Occupancy Permit

If you are selling, purchasing, or transferring ownership of a property within Biglerville Borough, please be aware that, in accordance with Borough Ordinance 13-2001, an Occupancy Permit is required whenever a property is sold or transferred to a new owner. An Occupancy Permit must be completed and approved before settlement can take place.

Why Is an Occupancy Permit Required?

The Occupancy Permit process serves several important purposes, including:

• Ensuring the property meets applicable building, safety, and code requirements.
• Providing the Borough with the new property owner's name, contact information, and mailing address.
• Documenting the number of occupants permitted at the property and helping to ensure the property is not overcrowded.
• Allowing the Borough to maintain accurate property and occupancy records.

What Happens After the Application Is Submitted?

Once the Borough Office receives the completed Occupancy Permit application and applicable fee, the Borough office will contact the property owner or applicant to schedule an inspection of the property with the Borough's Code Enforcement Officer.

Water & Sewer Final Reading

Biglerville Borough provides water and sewer services to properties within the Borough, as well as portions of Butler Township surrounding the Borough.

If you are selling or transferring a property, a final water meter reading can be requested by contacting the Borough Office.

A $30.00 fee applies for each final water reading requested.
